More and more of us are working from home, remote working is becoming a fact of life at this present time. Having a functional and comfortable workspace is essential to allow you to work happily and efficiently.
We will identify a suitable space, ideally one that can be separated from your home in some way so that there is a distinction between the work zone and the home/relaxation/family zone. Lighting, furniture and equipment all play a part in creating the ideal working area.
Have you got a good source of natural light in the room so you can see the screen or read documents clearly and easily? Is your chair adjustable and supportive? Is your desk and chair set up correctly to maintain a good posture and avoid back, shoulder and neck ache ? Is your equipment up to the job or do you need to invest in a set up that is similar to that in your work office? All these aspects of home working can be examined and improved upon to create the ideal working environment.
Be kind to yourself. Working from home, free of distractions can be great but if you have not moved from your desk for hours, it is not conducive to you well-being. Water cooler chats or trips out to the local sandwich shop break up the day so be as disciplined with your downtime as you are with your work time. Get up, stretch and move around every 20 minutes. Have a cup of coffee in the kitchen for 10 minutes and do not eat lunch 'al desko' tempting though it may be.
Clutter freedom will help you to set up a well laid out, distraction free and organised office space that will allow you to focus and to work effectively, efficiently and most importantly - happily.
